Hope they write a new one
I think Roses, an HP Book by Ray and MacCaskey is a great book, with a lot of good information, and I refer to it often. I was hoping there was a new revision, since the one I have is 1985. Apparently not. It's practical, down to earth and has many beautiful and inspiring photographs.

Roses
This is a great inexpensive book for the novice rose gardener. Excellent tips on selecting, pruning, grow and enjoying. A great selection of pictures of new roses on the market. For the beginner - an absolute must. Language is in basic term and very easy to understand.

Run With The Best
Published in Paperback by Tafnews Press (10 September, 1998)
Authors: Tony Benson and Irv Ray
Average review score:

The Best Training Book I've Ever Read
The one thing that I used to hate about being on the track team was that I never knew how to train in the summer and winter. My coaches provided little information about specific training for the offseason. Thanks to this book I now know exactly what to do during the offseason to maximize my performances. I've read probably 10 books about training and this is definitely the best one. Why? Because the methods are PROVEN. Sure, there might be some new fancy scientific method that works a tiny bit better, but this training has been proven over decades to work wonders on elite distance runners. Take Ryan Hall and Anita Siraki - they use the program in this book and have run a 3:42 1500 (equivalent to a 4:00 mile) and a low 10:00s 2 mile, repectively. This book tells you exactly what kind of workouts and how much of each for every month of the year to ensure success. I can't imagine what else anyone would need. The only downside to the book is that it doesn't have anything about specific streches, buying shoes, etc. but that's because this book it totally about training. If you don't know how to stetch already then you probably don't need this book. If you have big dreams for your running future, buy Run with the Best. I promise you won't be dissapointed.

Practical Guide to Training to be the best!
Irv Ray and Tony Benson are two extremely successful coaches and students of the sport, yet they do not allow their expertise to disrupt wiht scholarly and technical jargon what is an easily read and understood text on how to train and race your best.

Geared more to the coach, yet applicaple to the athlete, Run With The Best breaks down the training-racing-peaking process into the steps one must take in order to improve as a runner. None of it is theory, it is all time-tested, scientific and proven ... the results of the runners who have trained under Benson's and Ray's tutelage stand as testimony. The book is full of charts and text that explains what it is you are looking at in chart form and it also includes numerous examples of the workouts that fall within the framework of their training system.

I have used the training system with my runners at the high school level and I have found the principles to be successful regardless of the talent level of the athlete. Improvement comes to any runner willing to follow the model set forth in the book.

Highly recommended for anyone seeking a practical and proven method of training successful runners.

Sacred Orgasms
Published in Paperback by Secret Garden (August, 1992)
Authors: Kenneth Ray Stubbs and Kyle Spencer
Average review score:

A wonderful guide to sexual expansion
I thorougly enjoyed this book. We read about how Taoism, Tantra, Meditation, and Native Americans use energy and sexuality. Ray has supplies a huge amount of information, written in poetry form so it is easy to digest and also full of ideas to play with. I highly recommend this book for anyone looking to expand themselves sexually.

A spiritual approach to honor mans' sexuality.
I found this book enlightening. It's easy to read and appeals to non-readers because of the limited words and visual layout of each page. This book presents the connection between spirituality and sexuality. Simply stated, it holds the spirit and the body as sacred. The author gives us permission to accept our birth right to enjoy and value the benefit humans can reap from orgasm. Sex is meditative when approached in a mindful way: being AWARE and ATTENTIVE to all of our senses.

Seven days, seven rays : a week of Kundalini yoga
Published in Unknown Binding by White Lion Press ()
Author: Ravi Singh
Average review score:

Unique and Beautiful
It's too bad this book has gone out of print, because it's fantastic! Not only does it have 7 days' worth of Kundalini Yoga workouts, but there are several of Ravi Singh's beautiful poems interspersed throughout. The black and white photographs are very nice and a great help when you are trying to do the exercises. Singh explains, briefly, the history of Kundalini, and there are appendices in the back which feature many different types of mantras and meditations, plus information on the chakras. There is an introductory warm-up set that is to precede each day's workout, and then for each day of the week there is a set of exercises which correspond to the energies of that particular day; for example, Monday, ruled by the Moon, features exercises which balance the emotions. Each exercise is followed by a short description of what it will do for you. The only thing I did not like about the book is that I wish the descriptions of the different types of breathing were more detailed and explanatory. Otherwise, this book is filled with beautiful words, lovely photos, and is a nice introduction to Kundalini Yoga.

great book as fantastic as Ravi's classes
Great book. Kundalini yoga has really changed my life. I especially like this book. His writing is very inspirational, and so many insights are next to each other. The yoga sets (kryias) are very unique. By just doing one of the sets you'll gain more personal benefit from it than you had to spend for the book

The Seven Rays of Life: A Compilation
Published in Paperback by Lucis Publishing Company (December, 1995)
Author: Alice A. Bailey
Average review score:

Not a Shortcut
This book is not a shortcut for those who seek enlightenment as to their ray makeup. It is, however, a good way to get started on an understanding of the rays that can help build a foundation of knowledge concerning this extremely important function of cosmic Life as it influences and impacts the planet with all its kingdoms, including the human. Helena Blavatsky wrote a little bit about the rays, but as the Master DK dictated the "blue books" to Alice A. Bailey, He clarified and added to the information first given out in The Secret Doctrine. For instance, to study astrology or cosmology in general without some understanding of the rays is like trying to make an omelet without eggs, there's definitely something missing. This book, a very good compilation, gives us the basic ingredients we need as we study and apply the Ageless Wisdom teachings concerning the rays in our daily lives.

Since 1971 I've been studying the Alice Bailey Books.
My whole life has been undergoing a positive change because of my ongoing study of all the volumes written by Alice Bailey. With each reading I understand a bit more because of the life experiences which are provoked by the assimilation of the information contained therein. The whole of my life, every aspect of my being, has been touched by the Alice Bailey books. As my eyes scan the words on the thousands of pages, my consciousness is awakened from day to day, week to week, month to month, year to year. And the process continues, much to my delight. Enlightenment breeds enlightenment leading to the acceptance of the superficial differences, which seem to characterize mankind; but which disappear with time and with each expansion of consciousness, till the realization of the oneness of mankind takes hold and becomes a living truth.
